The empty chair

There are often times when we deeply feel the loss of those we love who have died. We often miss them most in times of family happiness; when we eat together, or play games, there is an Empty Chair where they would have sat and we can't help missing them and feeling sad.

This is a safe place to think and pray about those feelings if you'd like to.

Is there someone you especially miss? Write their name on the luggage tag tied to the Empty Chair below. And read the poem.

I look for you

But you're not there.

Instead there's just an Empty Chair

As people laugh - you would have too,

But you're not here,

And I miss you.

I think of favourite memories

Of times we spent

Just you and me

Your face, your smile,

Your favourite stuff.

At times like these it's really tough.

I'm thankful for the fun we had

But right now...

I'm just feeling sad.

So...

I'll turn my sadness into prayer

As I look at your Empty Chair

The Empty Chair

Take some time to think about the good memories. If you'd like to, thank God for those times, but why not also talk to him about the sad feelings. Take as much time as you like.
